Shiatsu is a Japanese healing art that uses natural leaning pressure from palms and thumbs along the whole body. The principles of shiatsu are that there are channels of energy or meridians that flow in the body, when this flow of energy is interrupted physical symptoms can occur. Shiatsu aims to restore the balance of these energies, it is gentle, and extremely relaxing. It can also incorporate some stretches to free the body of tension and stress and help improve the flow of energy. It is done at floor level on a padded matt or futon and over the top of clothes.
Shiatsu comes from the point of view that mind, and body are inseparable and emotions too for that matter, basically that every part of your body and mind are related and if one part is not working so well, it has knock on effects in other areas.
