Business Services
At Rehab and Heal you will be offered one of the best Deep Tissue Massages in Bristol as part of the range of massage treatments I offer. It will include myofascial techniques for myofascial pain. The deep tissue massage technique consists of the application of intense, localized pressure to access the deep tissue layers, but there are also some very subtle techniques that can accomplish the same thing.
How I perform Deep Tissue Massage?
I will warm the fascia and superficial muscle fibres before, and then I will gradually increase the pressure to the contracted tissue. You might feel discomfort, but it will be totally bearable as I will use a feedback scale (NPRS) in which the client selects a whole number (0–10 integers) that best reflects the intensity of his/her pain. I will then finesse the way deep into muscle tissue with minimal pain.
The Deep Tissue technique I apply is parallel to the muscle fibres and consists of a firm and constant compression in order to affect the deeper structures of the musculoskeletal system, as well as the skin and the more superficial fascia and muscles. I will get to these deep layers, using my fingers, knuckles, elbows, forearms and the heel of the hand. I will apply the pressure gradually to a tight area until resistance is met. I will be consistent with the pressure while the tissue relaxes and until the release is completed. This is a very specific technique where I visualise in my mind a picture of the muscle being worked in order to know precisely the origin, insertion, and direction of the muscle fibres.
Different from Swedish Massage, the Deep Tissue Massage requires a deeper and slower connection to the muscle tissue in order to free congestion the muscular attachments to the skeleton. This will re-establish independent muscle action and will realign posture and movement patterns.
Swedish Massage
Swedish massage, also known as circulatory or relaxation massage, is the most famous and widely practised type of therapeutic massage.
The primary goal of this technique is the relaxation of the body and stress relieve, however, there is a long list of benefits.
I will mix techniques as effleurage (long fluid), petrissage (kneading), friction and tapotement (percussion) strokes to sedate the nervous system and find the place of deep relaxation.
Using my fingers, hands, fists, forearms and elbows I will vary your muscle receptors and I will provide a mixture of feelings, which will affect the sensory receptors to sedate the nervous system and bring the body to a place just before falling asleep.
I will use different tools to vary what muscle receptors are feeling which enhances relaxation.
The objective of this massage therapy is movements going one after other covering back, glutes, legs, arms, hands, abdomen, face and feet.
